Dear friends-to-be!

My name is Nini, and I am the German half of a German-US-American mixed couple. Jim, my significant other half, is an artist (painter, sculptor) and art critic by profession. He is looking for penfriends, too, by the way.

I am musicologist, historian and musician by profession, specialized in early music and historical performance practice, however, I do not work in my profession at present.
My interests are early classical music, history, art, poetry, theatre, languages and linguistics, reading, collecting coins, stamps and postcards, big cats and tea.

I am looking for snail-mail-penfriends around my age from all over the world. Both genders are welcome, but when you are from Africa you MUST be female (sorry folks, but I have made too many strange experiences with males from that part of the world). And, guys, I do not want to get any romantic messages; I am not interested!

Friendship is something very precious for me, which I take very serious. A penfriend for me is not a second-rate-friend, but a friend who just is not living right next door. Friendship is not made of quantity, but of quality of contact, and I am really annoyed by the decreasing willingness for commitment of people nowadays, who tend to change their friends like their clothes.
Having penfriends from different parts of the world also is a way of getting to know other places for me, since travelling is something I can only dream of but not afford.

When I think we could be matching friends, I will reply. I am definitly not the kind of person who disappears after a few letters, but since MOST of my friends are penfriends it takes time to reply.

I prefer to correspond by postal mail and usually treat postal letters with priority, but if you are from a country with a very unreliable postal system I would agree to the compromise to correspond by attached downloadable, saveable and printable files delivered by e-mail. I extremely DISLIKE getting letters as inbound-text-e-mails.
