hi, my name is Doug, short for Douglas. i come from London, but now i live permanently in Japan with my lovely Japanese wife and two children (Harry, 6 and Mini, 4). we have a nice house and don’t have to worry too much about money. i used to be a freelance computer programmer for 15 years before i came to Japan, but i can’t do that here. i worked with my wife for 3 1/2 years at one of her family’s business, perparing food, but i didn’t like that much and quit when my daughter was born to look after her and now i do a little teaching English to pay for my beer and cigarettes.
i love travelling and flying. i’ve spent over 15 years in other countries and have visited 29 so far. i’ve lived and worked in Australia, New Zealand, hong Kong, Holland and now Japan. i got a pilot’s licence when i was 23 (now 46) but can’t fly in Japan, so i now play with radio control planes, which is ok.
i am very interested in Asia and Africa. my travels have been mostly in Asia, but when i was 20 i went to Egypt and Sudan for a few months. very interesting. i can’t go travelling now as my children are too young, but one day i want to go to Taiwan, China, Vietnam, south korea, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, USA and Canada, plus Europe.
