Be Safe
Begin by communicating just by email, then look for odd behavior or inconsistencies. The person at the other end may not be who or what he or she says. Trust your instincts.
Never give out your surname, postal address, phone number, place of work or any other identifying information to people you don’t really know.
If a member doesn’t have a photograph on their profile ask for one. It will give you a good idea of their appearance. If they repeatedly make excuses about not sending one this could mean they have something to hide.
E-mail, use internet chat, speak on the telephone then if you still feel comfortable with your new friend arrange that all important first meeting!
1. Meet in a crowded place - pub, restaurant, coffee shop
2. Tell a friend where you are going and what time you will be back.
3. Never do anything you feel uncomfortable with.
